The deadline is one year, extendable by the customs authority for up to five years.

When there are no inputs or products with a national equivalent, it is possible to request the ex-tariff, which means the reduction or exemption of Import Duty (II) or Excise Tax (IPI) for this material. For this special regime to be accepted, a special request needs to be made to the Chamber of Foreign Trade (CAMEX), prior publication in the Official Gazette, and approval of the request.
CUSTOMS BONDED WAREHOUSE
WHAT IS IT?
The special customs bonded warehouse regime for imports allows for the storage of non-nationalized foreign goods in a public customs warehouse, with the suspension of payment of federal taxes.

WHAT GOODS CAN REMAIN IN THE BONDED WAREHOUSE?
Foreign goods that have not yet been nationalized can be destined for the bonded warehouse.

HOW LONG CAN THE GOODS REMAIN IN THE WAREHOUSE?
As a general rule, goods can remain in the customs bonded warehouse regime for imports for a maximum period of one year, a period granted in advance by the Federal Revenue Service. This period, in exceptional cases, may be extended for an additional year.
